The Journey Continues: Signing with Cantù

The Journey Continues: Signing with Cantù

Faith, family, and a fresh start in Italy

After years of putting in the work, staying ready, and trusting God's timing - I'm excited to officially share that I've signed a deal with Pallacanestro Cantù in Italy's Lega Basket Serie A.

This is a blessing I don't take lightly. If you know me, you know I've been through a lot of ups and downs in my journey - from Tennessee to the league to overseas - but one thing I've never let go of is faith. And honestly, this move to Italy? We felt it coming before it even happened.

Signs from God

Even before any calls were made, my wife and I kept talking about Italy - just casually brining it up in conversation. Then suddenly, we started seeing little signs everywhere:

  • A random woman sat across from us in the airport with a shirt that said "I LOVE ITALIA"
  • The international game I played on the airplane TV? Based in Italy.
  • Family members randomly dreaming about Italy
  • And team interest started coming in from... yep- Italian clubs

It wasn't just a coincidence. It felt like God was showing us right in our face where we were supposed to be next.

Waiting Season

Before this moment came, I had been in a season of waiting - always, of course, staying in shape, staying sharp, and staying faithful. I knew I was ready for something new. We had already talked about moving overseas, knowing that the right opportunity could truly elevate my career and help provide for my family in bigger ways.

Then after a pickup game one day, I got the call I had been waiting for and an offer that I couldn't pass up. That offer came from the top professional basketball league in Italy, Cantù- a club with history, strong fans, and a serious vision. It was a God-given opportunity, and I knew it.

From a Hooper's POV

From a basketball standpoint, I'm excited to bring what I do best: Energy. Defense. Smart plays. Leadership. And most of all - scoring.

As a shooting guard, I'm focused on being efficient, being coachable, and helping the team win in whatever way I'm needed. I've had great reps in the G League and even international play, but I'm walking into this chapter knowing that this is a chance to go even higher - mentally, professionally, and spiritually.

And this isn't my first time overseas - so this time, I feel even more mentally prepared for the culture shift, the pace, and the grind it takes to adjust and thrive.

Life Outside the Game

I'm even more excited to experience this next season with my little family. We're about to live just outside of Milan (aka...the fashion capital of the world, so you know my wife is thrilled), and we're right near Lake Como, which looks like something out of a dream.

And let me just say this: I am very much an Italian food guy - pasta, pizza, all of it - so don't be surprised if I post up just as much at the dinner table as I do on the court.

Grateful and Ready

To everyone who's supported me - thank you. To my beautiful wife and daughter, you make every move we make as a family worth it. To Cantù and the fans - I can't wait to get to work. And to anyone who's still in their waiting season: KEEP GOING. God doesn't waste time, He sets it up perfectly.

We're locked in, and I'll keep y'all posted every step of the way!
